The BANISH 45 suppressor is a modular pistol suppressor rated from rimfire up to .45 ACP, now sold by Silencer Central as the BANISH PSTL 45 TI. It runs 8.6 inches and 11 ounces in its long setup or 6.7 inches and 9.6 ounces short, with a titanium tube and aluminum baffles, and Silencer Central lists 36 dB of sound reduction. The key thing for a .45 ACP shooter is that most .45 loads are already subsonic, so there is no bullet crack to fight. MSRP is $979. Like any suppressor, it ships only after ATF approves your Form 4 (see current ATF wait times), and some states ban suppressors outright.

How Quiet Is a Suppressed .45 ACP?
Standard .45 ACP ammunition leaves a pistol below the speed of sound, roughly 1,100 to 1,125 feet per second at sea level. That matters more than any spec sheet number. A 9mm or .223 bullet breaking the sound barrier makes its own crack that no suppressor can remove, while a 230-grain .45 ACP load gives the BANISH 45 only the muzzle blast to deal with. That is why .45 ACP has long been the classic suppressed pistol round.
Silencer Central rates the BANISH 45 at 36 dB of reduction. We have not found independent sound testing of this suppressor, so treat that as the maker’s number and expect it to vary with the gun, barrel length and load. A suppressed .45 is far easier on your ears than an open one, but it is not quiet enough to skip hearing protection for a range session, especially indoors.
Using the BANISH 45 on 9mm, .40 and Other Calibers
Because the rating runs from rimfire up to .45 ACP, one BANISH 45 can cover a .22, a 9mm, a .40 S&W and a .45. The trade-off is bore size: a suppressor built for a .45-caliber bullet leaves more room around a 9mm bullet, so it is usually a little louder on 9mm than a suppressor sized for 9mm. The other cost is pistons. Each barrel thread needs its own piston, such as .578×28 for most .45 ACP barrels and 1/2×28 for most 9mm barrels.
Host Guns: 1911s, Carbines and Lever Guns
On a 1911 or most other locked-breech pistols, the barrel tilts as the gun cycles, and the piston is what keeps the pistol running with a suppressor on the muzzle. You will need a threaded barrel; many makers sell factory-threaded .45 ACP barrels, or a gunsmith can thread one. Pistol-caliber carbines with fixed barrels, like the CMMG Banshee in .45 ACP, are the quietest hosts because the longer barrel burns more powder before the bullet leaves.

Cleaning and Service
The BANISH 45 comes apart from both ends, and its baffles are keyed and indexed so they go back in the right order. That matters on a pistol suppressor, which gets dirty fast, especially if you shoot lead or rimfire through it. Clean it on a schedule that matches what you shoot, and check that every baffle is seated before you thread it back on.
