Meet the Rifle: Rock River Arms AR1700 (R3 Competition)

The Rock River Arms AR1700 is RRA’s R3 Competition build of the LAR-15 — a rifle engineered to put hits on steel at speed and on paper at distance. It ships chambered in .223 Wylde, which accepts both .223 Remington and 5.56×45mm NATO, so the winner has options for versatility. For Day 2 of Silencer Central’s 100 Days of Silence, Rock River Arms has built this AR1700 in a custom white scale honeycomb camo Cerakote finish — for a one-of-one giveaway treatment. MSRP as configured: $1,885.

RRA guarantees 3/4 MOA at 100 yards out of this platform, and that accuracy claim is backed by the 18-inch, 1:8-twist, fluted stainless barrel (cryogenically treated). Combine that with the RRA Two-Stage Ultra Match Varmint trigger, and a 15-inch free-float RRAge 3G M-LOK handguard that decouples barrel harmonics from the shooter’s support hand this rifle was meant for accuracy. The rifle runs on an RRA 6-Position Operator CAR stock, a low-profile gas block, a winter trigger guard, and a star safety selector. Thirty-plus-one capacity. Unloaded weight: 7.6 pounds.

The Finish: White Scale Honeycomb Camo Cerakote

Cerakote is a ceramic-based finish that protects the steel and aluminum surfaces of a rifle against wear, solvents, carbon fouling, and corrosion. The white scale honeycomb camo pattern applied to this AR1700 is a layered, stencil-based build: a white base, a scaled honeycomb overlay, and a sealed topcoat. The practical result is a rifle that looks unlike anything else on the range and holds up under hard use — the same Cerakote formulation used on duty rifles and precision bolt guns.

Meet the Suppressor: MeatEater by BANISH

Now that we met the rifle, don’t let that distract you from one of the coolest suppressors around. The MeatEater by BANISH will blow your mind, but not your hearing. This suppressor is the hunting-first collaboration between BANISH and Steve Rinella’s MeatEater team — a 100% titanium can designed to be short, light, and versatile enough to earn a place on more than one rifle in a hunter’s safe.

Three numbers tell most of the story: 10.3 ounces, 5.85 inches, and 32 dB of sound reduction. Featuring 8 baffles, a 1.73-inch outside diameter, and a Sniper Gray Cerakote body, and you have a suppressor that stays out of the way on a sporter-weight rifle and still delivers hearing-safe numbers at the ear. The MeatEater ships with an anchor brake that gives the shooter two modes in one device: fully open, and the recoil magically drops by about 40%; In the closed, position you get a little better sound reduction and still reduce felt recoil by about 30%. This versatile suppressor can cover calibers from .17 HMR up through .300 RUM, with interchangeable muzzle cap inserts sized for different calibers.

Pairing Notes: Running the MeatEater on the AR1700

The AR1700 leaves the factory with a standard 1/2×28 muzzle thread which is the most common pitch for 5.56/.223 caliber AR-15s. The MeatEater’s ships with a 5/8×24 direct-thread mount, which is standard for most .30-caliber hosts. Don’t worry though, the MeatEater uses the industry-standard HUB mount which means that the MeatEater can use any HUB compatible mount including ones that can adapt to a 1/2×28 muzzle thread(not included). For the winner this means that the MeatEater will not only work the AR1700, but is already set up for any of their 30 caliber rifles like a .308 or .300blackout guns all thanks to the HUB compatibility.

FAQ — The 2nd Morning of Silence

Can one winner really take both the Rock River Arms AR1700 and the MeatEater by BANISH?

Yes. The 2nd Morning of Silence is a single giveaway with one winner and one prize package: the Rock River Arms AR1700 rifle plus the MeatEater by BANISH suppressor. One entry, one winner, both items.

Do I need to buy anything to enter?

No. No purchase is necessary and a purchase does not improve your chances of winning. Full Official Rules apply.

Who is eligible?

Legal U.S. residents, 21 years of age or older, in states where suppressor ownership is lawful. The entry platform (Crowd9 PTY LTD) screens eligibility at the platform level. See the Official Rules for ineligible states and full eligibility detail.

How does the MeatEater by BANISH mount to the AR1700?

The AR1700 ships with a 1/2×28 muzzle thread. The MeatEater uses an industry-standard HUB mount and ships in a 5/8×24 direct-thread configuration, with an anchor brake option. A 1/2×28 muzzle device in the HUB system lets the can run on the AR1700 — and the same suppressor moves to a .308 or .300 Blackout host with the correct device. The suppressor is not locked to a single rifle.

What does the MeatEater by BANISH actually reduce sound to?

BANISH publishes a ~32 dB sound reduction for the MeatEater. The exact dB at the shooter’s ear depends on caliber, barrel length, ammunition, and environment, but ~32 dB is hearing-safe territory on a supersonic .308 and well into hearing-safe territory on .300 Blackout subsonic loads.

Is the NFA tax stamp still $200?

No. The $200 NFA tax stamp on suppressors was eliminated on January 1, 2026 by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Federal Form 4 registration is still required, but the $200 stamp fee is gone.

If I entered yesterday’s giveaway, am I automatically entered today?

No. Each giveaway requires a separate daily visit and a separate daily entry. There is no automatic carryover from day to day and no subscriber exemption. Entering the 2nd Morning of Silence does not enter you in the 2nd Afternoon of Silence — that is a second, separate entry.

When and how is the winner notified?

The winner is drawn shortly after entries close at 9:00 PM CT, posted the same night to the Winners Page, and emailed at 8:00 AM CT the following morning from 100DaysOfSilenceWinner@BrandAvalancheMedia.com. Winners must return a signed affidavit by physical mail to Brand Avalanche Media, Inc., 4343 16th St #161, Moline, IL 61265.
