Yesterday we featured the versatile BANISH 22 for rimfire use. Today on Day 95, we’re comparing two excellent lightweight hunting options from BANISH.
The MeatEater by BANISH is the featured suppressor and official prize for Day 95 of the Silence Challenge on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Both suppressors are excellent choices for hunters. The question really comes down to whether you want the absolute lightest option (Backcountry) or a slightly heavier suppressor with more features and tunability (MeatEater).
Which one would you choose for your hunting rifle?
Over the past few days, we’ve featured a variety of suppressors for different uses. Today on Day 95, we’re comparing two hunting-focused .30 caliber options from BANISH: the MeatEater by BANISH and the BANISH Backcountry.

Weight and Size

If raw weight is your top priority, the BANISH Backcountry wins clearly. At just 7.8 ounces, it’s one of the lightest centerfire rifle suppressors available. It’s only 5.5 inches long, making it an excellent choice for hunters who count every ounce on long hikes or mountain hunts.
The MeatEater by BANISH is still very light at 10.3 ounces and only slightly longer at 5.85″. The extra weight comes from its additional features, particularly the Anchor Brake system.

Sound Suppression

The MeatEater by BANISH has a slight edge in sound reduction, averaging around 32 dB. It also gives you the ability to tune performance using the Anchor Brake.
The BANISH Backcountry delivers solid suppression at around 30 dB, which is still very good, especially considering how light it is.

Recoil and Shootability

This is where the MeatEater by BANISH really stands out. It features a patented Anchor Brake system that lets you adjust between two settings:

This tunability is a big advantage for hunters shooting heavier recoiling cartridges like .300 Win Mag or .300 PRC.

The BANISH Backcountry offers standard recoil reduction for its size and weight but doesn’t have any adjustable features.

Features and Maintenance

The BANISH Backcountry is a fixed, non-serviceable design. While this helps keep weight down, it means you can’t easily disassemble it for cleaning.
