What about the BANISH 22?

The BANISH 22 is a direct-thread rimfire suppressor engineered for pistols and rifles chambered in .22 caliber and smaller. Its all-titanium construction keeps weight to a minimum while providing exceptional durability and full-auto rating. With eight precision baffles and a user-serviceable design, it’s easy to disassemble for cleaning. A capability that is critical for the dirty world of rimfire shooting.

What sets it apart is its expanded caliber rating. While optimized for .22 LR, it also handles .17 HMR, .22 WMR/.22 Mag, .22 Hornet, and even centerfire 5.7x28mm! This makes it one of the most versatile small-caliber suppressors available. The direct-thread 1/2×28 mount is simple and reliable, and the compact size means it won’t throw off the balance of your host firearm.

Expanding Horizons: The BANISH 22 + 5.7x28mm Ammo

The real magic happens when you pair the BANISH 22 with 5.7x28mm ammunition. This high-velocity centerfire round (typically supersonic) delivers flat trajectories, low recoil, and excellent terminal performance in its intended platforms. However, the crack from the supersonic bullet and muzzle blast can be sharp.
The BANISH 22 is officially rated for 5.7x28mm, and real-world testing shows it reduces sound by up to 20 dB on 5.7 pistols. This brings the report much closer to hearing-safe levels when combined with a secondary form of hearing protection like foam ear plugs. Its lightweight titanium build shines here since  it won’t turn a nimble pistol into a boat anchor or unbalance a carbine.
Subsonic 5.7x28mm ammunition, such as Fiocchi Range Dynamics 62gr FMJ (model 57SUB62), transforms the shooting experience even more when paired with the BANISH 22 suppressor. While standard supersonic 5.7×28 loads generate both muzzle blast and a sharp sonic crack as the bullet exceeds the speed of sound, this specialized subsonic round is engineered to stay below approximately 1,130 fps. This eliminates the sonic boom entirely, allowing the BANISH 22’s eight titanium baffles to focus purely on suppressing the remaining muzzle report. The result is dramatically quieter performance in suppressed setups along with noticeably lower recoil. This makes the combination ideal for relaxed plinking sessions where you can shoot longer without fatigue or noise complaints, and for practical applications like varmint control, where stealth and minimal disturbance to surroundings are priorities. The Fiocchi load cycles reliably in popular 5.7 platforms (including pistols and carbines with barrels up to around 10 inches), delivering consistent accuracy and making the already versatile BANISH 22 even more effective for everyday suppressed use.
This versatility transforms the BANISH 22 from “just another rimfire can” into a true multi-role performer. You get one suppressor that excels on your .22 LR plinker and your 5.7 platforms. No need for separate cans, saving money, paperwork, and storage space.

Five Popular 5.7x28mm Firearms That Pair Beautifully with the BANISH 22

Here are five standout hosts (all compatible on models with 1/2×28 threaded barrels or common threaded configurations). Each brings unique strengths, and the BANISH 22 enhances them all.

1. FN Five-seveN Pistol

The original high-capacity 5.7×28 pistol that started the civilian craze. Known for its polymer frame, low recoil, 20-round magazines, and excellent ergonomics, the Five-seveN remains iconic for its armor-piercing heritage although civilian ammo is not AP and flat-shooting ballistics. It’s a favorite among enthusiasts who want something different from 9mm.

In order to suppress this pistol, you will need to go the aftermarket route, with an aftermarket barrel and adapter. Jarvis Inc offers both an FN 5.7 Tactical Pistol Barrel and an FN 5.7 Thread Adapter that allows the Banish 22 to mount using the American standard 1/2×28 threads.

2. FN PS90 Carbine

The civilian semi-auto version of the legendary P90 bullpup. With its 16-inch barrel, 50-round magazine, and futuristic ergonomics, the PS90 offers compact size with rifle-like performance. It’s a pop-culture icon and a favorite for its high capacity and controllability.
Why it shines with the BANISH 22: Suppressed PS90s are a dream and many owners run threaded setups, and the image below shows exactly how clean it looks. The lightweight can keeps the bullpup maneuverable while turning the 5.7’s report into a much more civilized thump. Perfect for range days or home-defense considerations.
In order to Suppress the PS90 it will require you to change the barrel to a 10.4 inch threaded barrel or buy an SBR version of the PS90. If you already own a PS90 or can’t find an SBR the barrel can be changed out and using a thread adapter means you can now use any 1/2×28 suppressor or muzzle device. While changing the barrel on the PS90 is requires a little more work than the simple swap of the Five-seveN Pistol I can tell you it is worth it. first and foremost the shorter barrel alone transforms the PS90 back into the compact bullpup it was always meant to be. Add on a suppressor and some subsonic ammo and you have a true compact beast that is meant for business.

3. Ruger-5.7 Pistol

Ruger’s more affordable, American-made answer to the Five-seveN. It features modern striker-fired operation, excellent ergonomics, optics-ready slides on many models, and reliable feeding. Widely praised for value and shootability.
In order to suppress the Ruger-5.7 Pistol you will need to order the Ruger-5.7 threaded barrel kit. This is a factory kit and comes with everything needed to use a 1/2×28 suppressor on the pistol and can be ordered directly from Ruger.

4. Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7 Pistol

A newer but rapidly popular striker-fired 5.7 option with high-capacity magazines (often 22+1), crisp trigger, optics-ready slide, and S&W’s signature reliability. It brings modern features at a competitive price point.
Why it shines with the BANISH 22: Threaded-barrel configurations are common and suppressor-friendly. The BANISH 22’s minimal added weight and length make this already ergonomic pistol even more pleasant for extended range sessions or training.

5. Ruger LC Carbine 5.7×28

Ruger’s compact, feature-packed carbine (or Charger variant) in 5.7×28. It offers folding stock options in some configs, high capacity, low recoil, and excellent accuracy in a handy package, bridging pistol and rifle performance.
Why it shines with the BANISH 22: Factory or easily threaded barrels make mounting simple. The suppressor transforms this already low-recoiling carbine into a near-whisper-quiet plinker or defensive tool while preserving the 5.7’s velocity and flat trajectory.

Final Thoughts

The BANISH 22 is already one of the best rimfire suppressors you can buy being light as a feather, easy to maintain, and devastatingly effective on .22 platforms. But when you add centerfire 5.7x28mm capability to the mix, you unlock another entire level of versatility and enjoyment. One suppressor. Multiple roles. Rimfire fun by day, supersonic 5.7 performance by night (or at the range). Whether you’re running an iconic FN Five-seveN, a high-capacity PS90, or any of the modern Ruger or S&W options, the BANISH 22 proves it’s not just a rimfire can, it’s a true multi-caliber asset that makes every shot more enjoyable, quieter, and more capable.
